Our Junior Learners experience a Play-based Learning Programme where play is valued as an important component to a child’s social, emotional and cognitive development.
We believe this programme enhances children’s opportunities to explore, experience and practise our REACH values and the key competencies as set out in the NZ Curriculum.
The programme allows for a smoother transition and lays strong foundations on which their future learnings can develop.
Children are eligible to travel on the bus if they are under ten years and more than 3.2kms from school and 10+ years and more than 4.3km from the school. (in a school zone). It is the parents' responsibility to pick their children up at their appointed drop off point. If you are out of the school zone and wish your child to use the bus on the bus route you will need to contact Rangiora High School as there will be a fee and a bus pass issued. If you would like your child to take the school bus or any enquiries please contact our Bus Controller John Lynskey by email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Please give John the days you would like your child on the bus and if there are any changes please contact him in the morning by email.

The office or teachers need to be informed if your child has a medical/dental appointment during the day.
If a student is away without a reason they will be entered as an unjustified absence. This can also occur if the explained absence is not within the school's policy as a justifiable reason for the student to miss school.
Ashley School Second Hand Uniforms
The office has some second-hand school uniforms available. We have shorts, shirts, polar fleece tops and track pants available.
If you have uniforms in good condition that you no longer require please drop off to the school office.
We no longer stock the old Ashley School Logo.
Please check our website, seesaw or Facebook for details before calling the school. We need to keep the lines free to call parents of children showing signs of distress. We will post information online as soon as possible. We may be able to answer the phone out on the field where we will assemble but the children will be our first concern. When they are safe we will try to answer calls. You are most welcome to come and check on your child or pick up your child in these circumstances.
Parents can take children home after you have reported to the classroom teacher and your child has been marked off the classroom roll. We need to know where all children are at all times for their safety and care.

You will be notified/updated asap on our website, classroom seesaw or FB (only if possible.) Please keep in touch with the emergency services if we are in lockdown, not the school.
